I love the clean lines of origami and the cultural history of the Japanese kimono. This painting is a combination of the two. This is only the first in a series of Japanese inspired paintings. Beautiful origami crane mobile in the kimono patterned clouds.
My brother was living in Japan for a couple of years, he has just returned home a couple of months ago. I had a bunch of these paper cranes hanging from my ceiling, he comes in with big eyes and says, "That is soo Japanese!" Needless to say, he felt at home.
